24: Legacy Takes The Stage At New York Comic Con

(PCM) Fox is planning on launching a new series spinoff of 24 in early 2017. The show is scheduled to air on February 5, 2017, and is called 24: Legacy. The series 24 was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran.

24: Legacy will serve as the lead-out program for Super Bowl LI, and will move to its regular time slot which will be on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. The show will follow Eric Carter, played by Corey Hawkins, using real time as a method of narration. After leading a mission to assassinate a terrorist leader, Eric Carter returns to the United States, and realizes his former squad mates are being targeted and killed in retaliation for the assignation of the terrorist leader.

Running out of options Carter asks CTU to help save his life while also stopping one of the largest terrorist attacks on American soil. 24: Legacy will take place three years after the events in 24: Live Another Day and is set to take place in Washington, D.C.

The cast of 24: Legacy took the stage at New York Comic Con. The cast in attendance are as follows: Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, and Jimmy Smits, also joining the panel were executive producers Manny Coto, Evan Katz, and Howard Gordon. Things that were revealed are as follows: 24 will remain neutral when it comes to American politics: The Eric Carter character is not the new Jack Bauer: Miranda Otto took the role on 24 because she didn’t want to leave the world of Homeland: Carlos Bernard will reprise his role of Tony Almeida.

During roundtable discussions at NYCC we were joined by Corey Hawkins, who reveals he is super hyped to be a part of bringing the next chapter of 24 to the fans. Carter is not trying to be the next Jack Bauer who was portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland in 24. Carter is much more raw and emotional, and is flawed in many ways. Hawkins was a huge fan of the original 24 and can’t wait to bring 24: Legacy to a new generation of fans.

The Executive Producers of the show were up next: They revealed that Cory Hawkins was the one and only choice for the role of Eric Carter. They also said that the reason they wanted to do a reboot of 24 was, “we love 24.” They had been discussing focusing on an Army Ranger, and with ISIS and terrorism still a hot button they thought it best to release the show now. The EP’S are also super excited that the show will premiere the same night as the Super bowl. The script for the first episode took eight months to write.

Finally sitting down with us was the always funny Jimmy Smits and the beautiful Miranda Otto. The two will play husband and wife on the show and seemed to have great chemistry as they chatted with us for a short while Jimmy Smits revealed that there is a mole on the show, and that is was excited to be a part of the franchise that is 24. Otto revealed that the show is apolitical and that no party is mentioned. It is more of defining the relationship between husband and wife.

24 Legacy will consist of 12 episodes and Kiefer Sutherland will act as an executive producer.
