EPIX announced today that it will be the exclusive U.S. broadcaster of Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball, to be held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Sunday March 4, 2012. This year’s event marks the first time the world-renowned comedy and music festival will be held in the United States, broadcast live and commercial free on EPIX and streamed online

New performers added to the show include American comedians Fred Armisen, Hannibal Buress, David Cross, Bill Hader, Rashida Jones, Seth Meyers, Bob Odenkirk, John Oliver, Andy Samberg, Sarah Silverman, Statler & Waldorf from Disney’s The Muppets, Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig plus British comics Noel Fielding, Micky Flanagan, Peter Serafinowicz and Jack Whitehall. The all-star lineup of music and comedy talent includes previously announced artists Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons, Russell Brand and Reggie Watts.

EPIX is partnering with Amnesty International to target the enormous fan bases of the comedians and musical artists performing in the show, reaching over 150 million Twitter and Facebook followers. Throughout the event EPIX will offer a second screen companion application where viewers will be able to learn more about Amnesty International and the historic series of Secret Policeman’s Balls dating back to 1976, connect with their favorite performers and follow the conversation via Facebook and Twitter.

Following its US theatrical release in 75+ cities and its national broadcast premiere on PBS, the award winning documentary Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone will be available on DVD today, February 21st, 2012 by The Cinema Guild on SPARK.

As the first release to go out under SPARK Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone kicks things off by documenting the raucous history of the pioneering all-Black rock band Fishbone.

When Fishbone first emerged from California, no other band sounded or looked like them, and the weight of their innovative and iconic presence is still being felt decades later. Coinciding with the group’s 25th anniversary, filmmakers Lev Anderson & Chris Metzler have directed a compelling new documentary, narrated by Laurence Fishburne. Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone is both a fascinating and brutally honest look at the band’s history for longtime fans, as well as a perfect entry point for newcomers.

Jampacked with over 100+ minutes of bonus features, the DVD release includes audio commentary tracks by both the band and filmmakers, deleted scenes, interview outtakes with Fishbone and Rock Stars (No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Brains, Chuck D, Gogol Bordello), special featurettes, and unreleased performance footage of Fishbone’s early years and today.

Everyday Sunshine is a documentary about the band Fishbone, musical pioneers who have been rocking on the margins of pop culture for the past 25 years. From the streets of South Central-Los Angeles and the competitive Hollywood music scene of the 1980′s, the band rose to prominence, only to fall apart when on the verge of “making it.”

Laurence Fishburne narrates Everyday Sunshine, an entertaining cinematic journey into the personal lives of this unique Black rock band, and an untold story of fiercely individual artists in their quest to reclaim their musical legacy while debunking the myths of young Black men from urban America. Highlighting the parallel journeys of a band and their city, Everyday Sunshine explores the personal and cultural forces that gave rise to California’s legendary Black punk sons that continue to defy categories and expectations.

At the heart of Fishbone’s story is lead singer Angelo Moore and bassist Norwood Fisher who show how they keep the band rolling, out of pride, desperation and love for their art. To overcome money woes, family strife, and the strain of being aging Punk rockers on the road, Norwood and Angelo are challenged to re-invent themselves in the face of dysfunction and ghosts from a painful past.

The documentary includes interviews with: Gwen Stefani (No Doubt), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ice-T (rapper), Branford Marsalis (saxophonist), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction, Porno For Pyros), Questlove (The Roots), and more.

Synopsis: Friends With Kids is a daring and poignant ensemble comedy about a close-knit circle of friends at that moment in life when children arrive and everything changes.
