Did Ryan Murphy Kill American Horror Story ??

(PCM) Horror fans are some of the most loyal and loving fans that exist. They are dedicated and hardworking ladies and gents who love a good scream or a bump in the night. Everyone was looking forward to the return of FX horror anthology series “American Horror Story”. The show premiered on September 14th and things looked promising, and then after watching a few episodes things stopped looking so promising.

Season six of “American Horror Story” was titled, “My Roanoke Nightmare”. For the season the horror franchise went the reality TV route. The story revolved around a married couple named Shelby and Matt. The couple’s story is reenacted by a group actors. Shelby and Matt move from California, to a house in North Carolina following a brutal assault which left Matt temporarily hospitalized and caused Shelby to have a miscarriage. As soon as the couple settles into their new home, strange and paranormal occurrences begin to haunt them.

The first couple episodes were very solid and showed the peril the couple faced against the evil supernatural happening’s that were occurring around them. But there is only so much you can show before you begin wondering just why in the heck these individuals would be sticking around a place that was so incredibly haunted.

There were a lot of plot holes within the season. For me it began when Shelby (played by Lily Rabe) is hacked in the shoulder blade with a small ax by Agnes Mary Winstead who is slowly going insane playing the murderous Butcher (played brilliantly by Kathy Bates). Shelby bleeds profusely, but a short while later has the strength to bash her husband’s head in with a crowbar. The bashing in of the skull of Matt I believe is a total rip off The Walking Dead’s, Negan character. It just didn’t make any logical sense.

What about all the cops that were killed? No one would come and demolish the house? Midway through the season the cast eventually returns to the house to film season 2 of “My Roanoke Nightmare” aptly titled “Return to Roanoke”. Who in their right mind would return to the haunted house? Knowing that it is haunted? So much of these season made little to no sense. It was as if it was thrown together last minute. This may have been due to scheduling conflicts with some of the actors that Murphy had stacked in the cast, however trying to throw too many storylines together at once just made for a convoluted and puzzling season.  It’s like Ryan Murphy is pulling at straws anymore.

The biggest slap in the face was when the actors sat in a panel in front of their fans at the Paley Center for Media during Paleyfest. The fans were made to look stupid by asking dumb questions. Anytime anyone makes fun of its fan base it’s in bad taste, but I guess Ryan Murphy doesn’t care about his fans. I’m surprised executives at FX allowed such a rush job on the show. “American Horror Story” season six definitely left way too many unanswered questions at the end, but really does anyone care?  Let’s hope Murphy can redeem himself in season seven if there even is one!
