(PCM) The news has been revealed that A&E has made the decision to not renew the hit family docu-series “Duck Dynasty”. A short video statement was recorded by the Robertson family, stars of the series, that aired directly after the recent season premiere. The family said that the series will come to an end this April.
In an official statement A&E says “After five years, 130 episodes and one of the biggest hits in the history of cable, the Robertson family and A&E jointly decided that “Duck Dynasty”, the series, will come to an end after this season.” New episodes will run through Jan. 18, resuming March 1 with seven more episodes, including the finale on April 12. Even though that will be the end of the series, A&E says a series of holiday specials will be aired.
“Duck Dynasty” made it’s premiere on A&E back in 2012, following the hilarious and heart-warming adventures of the Robertson family who found major success in the duck business. The series gained a massive following and the Robertson family became a pop culture phenomenon. Early ratings for the series showed viewership at almost 10 million, however in the recent years the series has been on a steady decline with recent episodes barely having 1 million tune in.
We are sure that many will be sad to see the series go and we certainly wish the “Duck Dynasty” crew the best of luck with their future endeavors.
