(PCM) Just heard the news that WWE has suspended wrestler Titus O’Neil for 90 days, and then amid a ton of backlash amended the suspension to a period of 60 days. Titus was suspended after an incident at the Monday Night Raw taping in Seattle, Washington.
After USA Network, aired Monday Night Raw, there was a celebration of wrestler Daniel Bryan, who had announced his retirement plans earlier in the evening. The entire WWE roster came out onto the ramp, along with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and of course, Vince McMahon. Everyone cheered for Daniel Bryan, who wholeheartedly deserved the reception that he received. Titus O’Neil grabbed Vince McMahon by the arm on his way to the back and WWE is now calling the arm grab “unprofessional”.
When O’Neil arrived at the the taping for Smackdown the next day, he was notifed by WWE officials that he was suspended. Many are saying that O’Neil’s suspension is being used to show that the WWE would like their talent to behave on a more professional level, however others feel there is a more political agenda. Since John Cena has been injured, O’Neil has been the one in the spotlight doing all the charity work, so of course his suspension at this time comes as a big surprise. It’s Black History Month and you suspend a guy for joking around … Great PR move there, WWE!
It seems rather odd that none of this conduct was caught live on Raw, but yet he was still suspended. WWE has been known throughout the years for having some very risky story lines, but that’s what helped put them on the map. They have a phenomenal roster of talent. With this suspension Titus will most likely miss WWE biggest show of the year Wrestlemania. Which is a shame, because he is a hard worker, and doesn’t deserve the punishment he has received. There is a lot of politics in wrestling. I guess you should never cross the boss. Even Vince’s son left the company years ago, because of the politics. Guess we will have to wait and see how this all plays out!
