While Mission: Impossible II will always hold a special place in my heart, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at just how entertaining Mission: Impossible –Ghost Protocol turned out to be, and let me just say this film was born to be seen in IMAX, as it is visually spectacular!

In the film IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is back with this team to save the day once again after the government orders Ghost Protocol to be put in place after a bombing at the Kremlin that implicates the IMF in a global terrorist bombing scheme.  Hunt and his team are forced to go undercover with no assistance or guidance to clear their names and bring the guilty parties to justice. Hunt’s new team consists of tech-junkie Benji Dunn (the hilarious Simon Pegg), agent Jane Carter (Paula Patton), and government analyst William Brandt (Jeremy Renner). There are of course the usual hijinks and death-defying maneuvers that the team must overcome and the chemistry between the characters is portrayed perfectly certainly thanks to ideal casting. Two of the maneuvers that definitely stand out is hilarious tech-based stunt while trying to infiltrate the Kremlin and Cruise’s attempt at scaling the world’s tallest building in Dubai in quite the interesting way!

Director Brad Bird, moving from Pixar to live-action, does a fantastic job of creating a film that is an action packed thrill ride from start to finish. Bird and the other screenwriters included just the right amount of suspense with a bit of comedy thrown in at just the right moments to break up any tension and keep the audience on the edge of our seats throughout the course of the film.

Mission: Impossible –Ghost Protocol takes us on a thrilling adventure this holiday film season and certainly worth checking out (in IMAX, if possible)!
