Captain America: The First Avenger, 7/22/11

Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving,
Natalie Dormer, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones

Whether you’re a fan of the Avengers or you simply have seen the trailer and continue to fathom how CGI can so effectively allow Chris Evans’ head to be placed on a scrawny body, Captain America: The First Avenger is preparing to be quite the hit to launch the series of Avengers films to come.

Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers, a man deemed unfit for military service due to his size and lack of fighting prowess. But in refusing to take no for an answer, he volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into superhero Captain America. The trashcan lid he would use to protect himself from bullies prior to his transformation is cleverly used as the early inspiration for his now bullet-proof circle shield that will protect him as he remains dedicated to defending America’s ideals.

From the trailer it seems like the perfect mix of story and action. Once Rogers transforms from scrawny, tiny, and weak into fit, fast, strong and incredibly attractive, we bet we’ll be just as entertained and interested as we were just pondering how CGI made for such a convincingly small Chris Evans.

Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22nd, 2011.
