Zookeeper, 7/8/11
Starring: Kevin James, Rosario Dawson,
Leslie Bibb, Ken Jeong, Donnie Wahlberg
So, we’ve got talking animals, pretty girls and Kevin James. Sounds like a comedy to us.
Zookeeper tells the story of Griffin Keyes (Kevin James), the world’s best zookeeper, who decides to quit his job in an attempt to win the heart of a former love (Leslie Bibb). But being the world’s best zookeeper proves to be a title you can’t easily relinquish. It’s the animals who won’t let him leave when they find out his plans. So they hatch a plan to let him know that they can all, imagine this, talk!
Don’t worry, though, the film tries to keep it semi-realistic, well, as semi-realistic as talking animals can get. The animals are real, not animated, and Griffin does freak out upon the revelation that they can talk. That whole taking an ape to T.G.I. Friday’s though… yeah, that’s not so realistic. But in movies, we’re supposed to suspend disbelief and if we can do that in Zookeeper, we think there will be plenty of chances for laughter.
It’s not a direct mimic of Night at the Museum, but it has enough similarity that we hope it can hold an equal value!
Zookeeper hits theaters July 8th, 2011.
