Megamind is Unstoppable

An out-of-control train couldn’t topple the animated Megamind from atop the box office charts.
This weekend, facing off against three new releases, Megamind retained 66% of its audience from last weekend, bringing in another $30 Million over the past three days and pushing its grand total to $89.7 Million. Â Going into the holiday season, Megamind appears to be quite the force at the box office.
Unstoppable, Denzel Washington’s second train movie in the last year, opened respectably to $23.5 Million (slightly ahead of The Taking of Pelham 123). Â The movie had a budget of $100 Million and might be hardpressed to make that back before it leaves theaters, despite the solid critical praise the movie hailed.
Due Date lost 52% of its audience, bringing in just $15.5 Million over the weekend. Â The movie is up to $59 Million since release and looks poised to break its budget of $65 Million before the weekend rolls around.
The other two new releases this weekend didn’t perform too well, with Skyline coming in 4th with $11 Million and
Morning Glory landing 5th with $9.6 Million. Â The special effects heavy Skyline had a budget of only $10 Million, so it’s already considered a success. Â Morning Glory, on the other hand, boasted stars Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, and Diane Keaton and is well behind its $40 Million budget.
Paranormal Activity 2 and Saw 3D are still hanging around theaters, despite Halloween being over two weeks ago. PA2 has made $82 Million so far off of a $3 Million budget, while Saw 3D is at $43 Million off of a $20 Million budget. Â Both should be out of the top ten by next weekend.
