Mark Wahlberg is hitting his stride again, not that he was ever off his game, he just didn’t pull as much weight as he used to — for me at least.

After The Happening, which he was decent in, and the disappointing (once again — to me) We Own the Night, I felt Wahlberg needed to get back to what he was capable of.  Just in case you were wondering, yes, I enjoyed Shooter. And no, Max Payne has no redeemable value whatsoever, but not to Wahlberg’s fault.

Now he is back, after a great role in The Other Guys, he has topped off box office gold with potential Oscar gold in The Fighter.

Christian Bale and Amy Adams round out the cast, which seems set up for Oscar nominations in supporting and lead roles for each.

The Fighter tells the true story of Mickey Ward and his trainer/brother Dickey.  Amy Adams plays the love interest, and you get the idea.  It’s kinda like Rocky, but you won’t see too many similarities other than the general underdog success story.

Check out the trailer, it’s one you should see.
